     Music Ministry

Greetings from Darryl Guzman, Director of Worship

Welcome to the music page of the Centerville Presbyterian Church website!

Worship at CPC is a vibrant blend of contemporary and traditional elements including exciting songs of praise and worship led by CenterPeace worship band along with beautiful choral anthems from the 50-member Centerian Sanctuary Choir. Most recently, a new Allen 380 Renaissance Organ was added to the music ministry, which complements and balances the contemporary sounds of the worship band. Organist Karen Wolff frequently “pulls out all the stops” and raises the rafters a bit during her popular preludes and postludes. Our pastors lead us into the presence of God with meaningful times of prayer and thought-provoking, practical and challenging messages from the Bible. All aspects of the service are crafted to focus our attention on the Lord Jesus Christ in a spirit of joyous celebration. This is a great place to worship the Lord! Please check out the service times on the CPC home page.

Centerian Sanctuary Choir

Centerville Presbyterian Church has always enjoyed an active adult sanctuary choir. Men and women of all ages and stages participate in this energized ministry group, which sings a variety of traditional, contemporary, gospel and classical choral anthems. The choir practices and perfects their music ministry skills on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 and sings each week in the Sunday morning services from September through June. Musical highlights throughout the year include “A Centerville Christmas Tradition” concerts with choir, orchestra and guest performers during December and The Festival of the Passion of Christ during Holy Week provides the opportunity for the choir to provide powerful and contemplative music focusing on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In May, the choir presents a final concert, usually featuring a major choral work. Gounod’s St. Cecilia Mass, Faure’s “Requiem” and Rutter’s “Gloria” are past favorites. The choir is accompanied by pianist Angie Bilardello and organist Karen Wolff, along with a variety of instruments. Interested in singing with us? Please give me a call at (510) 793-3575, ext 22.
