Connections - Membership Class

Are You Interested In Becoming A Member?

You may have been coming to CPC for years, enjoying it, getting involved, learning and making friends.  And each time you see the information on an upcoming New Members Group you ask yourself “Why join?” Or you may be very new to the CPC family and like it’s homey feel and wonder about the benefits of joining.  There are many reasons to become an active member of Centerville Presbyterian Church.  I’ll just offer a few for your  reflection:

¨ Becoming an active member provides you with the opportunity for a public expression of your faith in Christ.  At the time of your membership, you make a distinct decision to unite with the CPC body of believers as a full family member.

¨ Becoming a member offers you greater accountability in your walk with God as you get to know and provide input to Elders and Deacons.

¨ Becoming a member allows you to serve fully in the leadership structure of Centerville Presbyterian Church.  All Elders, Deacons and committee chairs are active members of the church.

THE JOINING IS IMPORTANT,

THE COMMITMENT IS GREATER,

THE BELONGING IS COMPLETE!

Frequently Asked Questions About Membership…

What if I am not really sure what I believe about a lot of things?

Actually, most of us would say that.  We want to believe the right things, but we’re not always sure what they are.  We still find ourselves with quite a few questions.  To be a member at Centerville Presbyterian Church does not imply that you have life all figured out.  Rather, it means that you are interested in exploring along with the rest of us how God intends for our faith, our understanding and our lives to develop.

What if I disagree with some of the teachings of Presbyterianism?

People within the Presbyterian Church USA often hold varying  opinions on particular issues. We adhere to a solid core of traditional creeds and confessions that have been in use down through the centuries.  But we also acknowledge that God alone is Lord of the conscience, and that there are numerous questions within our faith on which people of good conscience may well differ.

How much does it cost to be member of a Presbyterian Church?

Our church is supported by the gifts of its members.  We encourage people to give to support the mission of the church both within our own congregation and throughout the world.  We consider it a privilege to give joyfully and generously, within the means that God has provided to each of us.  We have no membership dues or minimum required gift.

How do I know if I will fit-in to the Church Community?

We are not yet the church we intend to be. We invite you to join with us so that we may grow together.
